The museum as a whole is interesting but not amazing. What really took my breath away was the building itself. It is truly fascinating. Both modern and classic with internal 3d nooks and cranny's.

CONSIDER SPENDING HOURS HERE. It's worth it. There are a lot of things and to enjoy them you should take your time. A great experience and a history lesson for people of all ages to learn and grasp. I personally really enjoyed the first level the most. The people of ancient times give you an interesting perspective on life. Those people could have never ever in all their brain power imagine their weapons, swords, statues, or even toys to be displayed thousands of years after them for other people. Makes you think in a thousand plus years if people will do the same to us.

The museum hosts some great exhibits and exhibitions but has a few negatives that impact a full five-star experience. In 2017 they reopened the old entrance off Queens Park which is fantastic as it offers easy access from the Museum subway stop and in 2018 they added free coat check as a membership perk. They routinely host a exhibition of Wildlife photography which is amazing and their dinosaur and biodiversity exhibits are great. However some exhibits have not had significant updates in years (Egypt for example) and the layout of the building is hindered in that the new addition is essentially a growth off the old building which makes for some navigation challenges to the newcomer. Additionally the cafe is a touch pricey on site but they have space to eat if you bring your own food so plan ahead.

This is an outstanding museum! We came to see the Vikings special exhibition which was well presented with particularly impressive sound design as you could hear audio representative of different aspects of Viking life as you walked around. The other highlight was the collection of dinosaur fossils which are among the best I've seen. Highly recommended if you have some time while visiting Toronto - I would plan at least half a day here.

Went to see the Vikings exhibit. It was interesting as I am a history nerd, but not worth the add-on price I think.

An absolutely awesome dinosaur exhibit and very educational exhibits from Ancient Greece and Egypt! It’s hard to find exhibits like that where I’m from and it always takes me hours to get through all the interesting rooms at the ROM. I think we spent more than an hour just looking at the minerals and gemstones. They have this interactive table in the Paleontology section where you pick a role, such as an environmentalist or a miner, and work with others around the table playing their own roles and you try to work together to create a sustainable economy and environment, which is fascinating for all ages!
