The clerk makes a few quick checks on the computer. Within 30 seconds I have a copy of Sing Unburied Sing in my hands, the terrific novel by Jesmyn Ward.

Really cool store. Lacks a little in the fantasy/science fiction areas but honestly so many other great finds here

What a perfect bookshop! Well curated selection and helpful, knowledgeable staff. The store is bright and comfortable for browsing. Atmosphere feels great. Top selling books as well as a shelf of plotless novels. Large selection of literary and popular magazines and journals. Good art book & art theory book selection as well as a cheerful and well-stocked kid’s’ room full of treasures. Tall graphic novel shelf and many cookbooks. Everything you’d want in a bookstore. Could have stayed all afternoon.

Type was founded by Joanne Saul and Samara Walbohm. They came from academic backgrounds, and opened a book shop just as Amazon and Big Box retailers put the boots to indies. The place is thriving. I love browsing for titles, and listening to the book chatter around me. The stock is well curated. The physical space is beautiful. The staff are super helpful.

Cool bookstore. Very interesting. For kitchen's lovers an excellent choice of books is available. Very pretty even the kids's section. A pleasant and colored place. Perfect for the reading lovers and passionate for those that want to have new point of view. I will go back for sure!

It has a unique approach to hiring, as far as I can tell. Everyone is part time, but they must lead full and accomplished lives away from the shop. What the shops employees do away from the book store, feeds into their roles there.

One of the best independent bookstores in Toronto. There’s something for everyone including a kids’ section. Guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing.

This place is among my favourites for buying new books. Not long after it opened in 2006 I noticed the amazing display in the window. I stood on the sidewalk looking at it, and reading the stuff in the window. I think the display was about Freedom to Read Week. That display brought me inside the shop. I have been going in regularly ever since. On the right side as you walk in, near the front door, is a great selection of books on architecture, cities, urban planning. One of the best I have seen. The staff are always helpful. A typical exchange between me and a staffer goes like this:
