I ate there yesterday with my best friend and our server, Meg, was amazing! She was great at recommending things and she was so friendly! We didn't wait, it was nice, food came out quickly. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because our bruschetta was off... it tasted a little funny, but everything else was great!

    Disappointing.

Firstly, while everything deep-fried was freshly fried and crisp, they tasted like they were fried in oil that needed to be changed. They had that distinct over-used oil taste. Perhaps I'm being a little nitpicky with this one, but even fast-food restaurants check their oil regularly.

Extremely unimpressed by the service. Our name was removed from the wait list under the claim that they called us and we didn’t answer even though we were standing at the door. The table and seats were dirty and had to ask for it to be cleaned. I ordered the Mexican salad which was to be chicken, mixed greens, arugula, black beans, corn, tomatoes, onion, avocado and the house made dressing. The mixed greens was JUST lettuce, I got no arugula or avocado; I indicated this to server who stated she would have it remade. It was remade and I still got only lettuce, 2 slices of avocado and no arugula or other greens to constitute the mixed greens. If I wanted a Caesar salad with add-ons I would’ve ordered that. Jack Astor’s this is false advertising. Definitely will not return.

I understand that not all restaurants specialise in steak. There are places I wouldn't expect a good quality steak. I guess my beef (pun not intended) is that I have had good quality steaks from a different Jack Astor's. I've been to the location in Kitchener numerous times and the steaks have been nothing short of phenomenal. I just expected that same quality from other locations as well.

For the most part I like coming to this bar, I know what I am going to get, so so food, overpriced beer and usually good service. Last time I went my waitress was the worst, asking if I wanted a drink and before I could answer just walking away, bar wasn't even busy.

More disappointing was the quality of the steak I received. I ordered a strip loin. Most restaurants only use the centre cut - no vein portion of a strip loin. It's usually more expensive, but better a quality cut. The strip loin with vein are the cuts you usually find in grocery stores because they're often cheaper. The steak I received had a significant vein going through it. What's the vein? It's the band of connective tissue running through the steak that is practically inedible and does not break down when cooked. If I'm paying $30+ for a steak, I expect a better quality cut.

It was my first visit , but man it was very very disappointing. My buddy always praise this bar bit i experienced today and it was very discriminating she made me feel like i do not belong here , please take care of staff what they say and how they react to their customers. Very disturbing !

I'm finding it difficult to provide a rating for this location. My overall experience was disappointing, but I can't fault the staff working during my visit. They were great!! The front hostesses and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Even the chefs in the back cooked the food without any fault of their own. However, my experience was disappointing because the quality of ingredients and cooking medium was not what I grew to expect from a Jack Astor's. First time at this location, but not first time to a Jack Astor's.
